After about 10 tries to connect the Xiaomi Smart Mi Air Purifier with the  Xiaomi App, I gave up and tried another way. I used my spare Android Smartphone, loaded the app, and connected the purifier, which worked at the first time. After that the purifier was in my home network and showed up in the iPhone app.
